Bourton on the Hill
This charming hillside village is situated less than two miles from the popular market town of Moreton in Marsh and is built of local honey coloured Cotswold stone.
The village is fortunate to have Batsford Estate and Arboretum close by and here you can enjoy a walk around the beautiful grounds any time of the year. In the village itself is Bourton House with its 16th Century Tythe Barn opens its gardens to the public weekly through the summer months and here you can buy unusual plants.
The Heart of England Way passes through the village and along with other footpaths, provides a pleasurable way to see the countryside around this pleasant area.
The village has one pub The Horse and Groom pub, recently refurbished
and now serving wonderful food. Other villages and towns with pubs,
restaurants and shops are Longborough (2 miles), Stow on the Wold
(under 4 miles) Chipping Campden (4 miles) and Blockley (2 miles).
